Who We AreThe Texas Medical Association Political Action Committee (TEXPAC) is the political arm of TMA which represents more than 42,000 Texas Physicians and nearly 8,000 alliance members. Organized in 1962, TEXPAC is one of the oldest political action committees in Texas. With more than 7,300 members, it is the largest bipartisan political action committee in the state and ranks first in size among other state medical association PACs. TEXPAC is a state and federal political action committee. TEXPAC provides financial support to candidates for both state and federal offices. Those who understand medicine govern TEXPAC. The Board of Directors includes 31 physicians who represent each of Texas' senatorial districts. Eight alliance members, one resident, and two medical student also are voting members of the board. The physician representative, along with another appointed physician and an alliance member, coordinates grassroots activities in each district.
